Preventing Debit Card Fraud Starts with You

At Indianhead Credit Union, your security is our top priority.

Debit card fraud is a growing concern, but there are simple steps you can take to protect your account. Learn how to prevent fraud and what to do if you suspect fraudulent activity.

Monitor Your Transactions Regularly

  • Regularly check your account activity for any unauthorized transactions. Use online banking or the mobile app to keep an eye on your balance and transaction history.
  • Tip: Set up transaction alerts to receive notifications of every purchase made with you debit card.

Use Strong PINs & Passwords

  • Choose a strong, unique PIN for your debit card that’s hard to guess. Avoid using birthdays, names, or easily guessable numbers.
  • Tip: Do not Shar your PIN or password with anyone, and void writing it down.

Be Cautious at ATMs

  • Only use secure, well-lit ATMs. Avoid ATMs that appear tampered with or have unusual devices attached (e.g., card skimmers).
  • Tip: When entering your PIN, cover the keypad to protect it from prying eyes.

Enable Fraud Alerts & Monitoring

  • Activate fraud alerts with Indianhead Credit Union to be notified of suspicious transactions in real time.
